Start with identifiers, not ratings
Write the year, a pot identifier and the actual plant or cultivar name when known. Add the container model or your measured dimensions, the growing media identification and the source of any planting guidance. A short factual record is a better starting point than a score with no explanation of what was scored.
Keep predicted quantities separate from the amounts you used. For example, an estimated 40 liters and a partly used labeled bag do not establish an exact 40-liter consumption. Describe what you know and leave uncertainty visible.
Save the changes and the exceptions
Note any change of position, container, media or care arrangement with a date. Link sunlight observations to the spot and date where they were taken. If a record is incomplete, say so. A blank fortnight is not evidence that nothing changed.
You can record a harvest or flowering observation without inventing a controlled trial. If several things changed together, the diary cannot isolate which one caused the outcome. Avoid turning a good season into a universal product endorsement or a difficult one into a claim that a particular item always fails.
End with one practical next step
Finish the sheet with three short entries: keep, investigate and stop buying. “Keep the readable pot labels” is specific. “Investigate why the bag estimate was high” creates a checkable task. “Stop buying duplicate scoops” connects the record to a real purchasing decision rather than a wish list.
Store the sheet with the relevant instructions and your saved calculations. The website does not save your entries automatically; print a copy or download the text before closing the tab. When planning the next season, verify current external guidance and product information. The old record tells you what happened then, not what today’s package contains or what the weather will do next.
